2nd law of thermodynamics

In the study of physics and thermodynamics, one is exposed to various laws.   The second law of thermodynamics comes to mind when looking at today’s political situation.

The law itself is complex however, it can simplify to:

Heat always flows spontaneously from hotter to colder bodies, and never the reverse, unless external work is performed on the system.1

or politically stated, the second law of thermodynamics can simplify to:

Angst within the American political system caused by Obama’s statist failures generated a great deal of heat. This heat or dissatisfaction within our nation flows spontaneously from its source, the statists, to colder bodies, defined as anyone coming out against the statist status quo. Today, that colder body is represented by president Donald Trump.

The colossal failure of the last administration generated the heat within our nation and now that heat or dissatisfaction of our current system is flowing to president Trump. According to Gallup, team Obama’s average popularity was lower than that of Richard Nixon.2  Looking back to president Nixon’s time, there was a great deal of heat or angst within the system but today, Obama’s failures have caused even more heat and danger to our system.

Finishing this metaphor shows the second law of thermodynamics states that this heat will flow to a colder object within the American system unless external work is performed on the system.  This work would have to be significant and take the system to either a totalitarian state or to liberty as envisioned by our nation’s founders. I personally hope it is the later.

Rights being eroded

Our Natural Rights, that no government can take away, are described by John Locke below. Basically, this brilliant treatise can be amalgamated simply to the following:

Leave me and my stuff alone and I’ll do likewise to you.

“The state of nature has a law of nature to govern it, which obliges every one: and reason, which is that law, teaches all mankind, who will but consult it, that being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty, or possessions… (and) when his own preservation comes not in competition, ought he, as much as he can, to preserve the rest of mankind, and may not, unless it be to do justice on an offender, take away, or impair the life, or what tends to the preservation of the life, the liberty, health, limb, or goods of another”. John Locke 1689

Today, the state is doing harm to our health with its constant wars and state dominated health care system.  In recent years, our liberty is being taken away in the erosion of our first Amendment rights. And, our possessions continue to be taken via a corrupt taxing system.

Does anyone but me feel similar to me that our natural rights are in very grave danger?  Please let me know your thoughts.

 

Will the new administration stop the proxy war in Yemen?

A story getting little play in the MSM is America’s proxy war in Yemen.  For those who do not know, the United States has been sponsoring a devastating war in the country of Yemen. The US has supplied logistical support, drone strikes, and weapons to ‘our side’.  Most who are in the know, because the avoid the MSM, feel this is a conflict being waged at the United States’ behest to help the Saudi’s oil industry and limit Iranian influence in the Middle East.

This is a serious issue and deserves media coverage.

“America’s CIA and Britain’s MI6 are involved with the Saudis and other rogue states in waging genocidal war on Yemen – millions at risk from war, related violation, preventable diseases and starvation on an appalling scale”.1

The United Nations today announced that the war has killed 10,000 people.

“At least 10,000 people have been killed in the war in Yemen, according to the United Nations, which is urging both sides to come together to end nearly two years of conflict”.2

I have two thoughts:

  1. Why is the US MSM ignoring this US sponsored human catastrophe, is it for political purposes to protect the current administration from criticism?
  2. Why did the MSM not report on the Wikileaks data showing the back story to US involvement in Yemen?
  3. What will the new administration do with the situation in Yemen?

Government and food

The following graphic clearly shows how entrenched the state is in everyday life.1  They currently provide some level of sustenance to over 43 million people. How much more can the state become involved in Americans’ life; this is food, an essential for the maintenance of human life, that is being doled out by the Federal Government to its subjects.

The growth of the number of Americans participating in SNAP has risen significantly since the ‘so-called end’ of the Great Recession. This is preposterous and violates common economic principles.

A few simple questions come to mind as one tries to understand the need for growth in this behemoth, $70B, state sponsored program in non-recessionary times.2

Question 1: If the Great Recession has ended, why did the SNAP program continue to grow?

Question 2: If the answer to question number one is that the Great Recession is not over is the Federal Government lying to the American people about the condition of the economy?

Question 3: If the Great Recession has ended as the Federal Government has stipulated, is the growth in SNAP due to the statists’ desire to create dependence and thus control over its citizens?

As in the case of most issues, the truth is likely found in the middle ground.  The Federal Government’s economic numbers are often fraudulent or at a minimum, do not reflect reality. Additionally, the state must force dependency upon its citizens to continue to survive.  Simply put, the economic conditions in American are not all that great as they are purported to be and the state, in order to grow its control over its citizens, wants more people dependent upon the state such that they will be forced to choose the state over economic freedom and personal liberty.

Lost liberty

Americans must awaken from their slumber, jump out of the boiling water, remove themselves from the slippery slope or whatever metaphor you so desire to really understand that we are losing our liberty.

Another example of government overreach was reported today. A Roseville, Michigan man was actually ticketed for warming up his unattended automobile.  This was not the case of a car being left unattended on a public street idling while its owner was nursing a beer at last call. No, this auto was in the man’s own driveway. This so called crime cost him $128 for the ticket but more importantly, this theft of personal liberty demonstrates how intrusive our government at all levels has become.
